SX-200 Installation Walkthrough

This walkthrough covers a guide-rail installation into an existing wet well, from setting the lower bracket to the first supervised start. It assumes the discharge pipework and the duty point are already fixed.

Setting the rails

The upper bracket carries no vertical load — it locates the rails only. Plumb the rails to within 2 mm over their length before grouting the lower bracket, because a rail that leans loads the discharge seal on one edge and the pump will weep at the connection rather than seat.

Cable routing

Support the power and control cables from the lifting chain, not from the rails, and leave enough slack for the pump to reach the bench without tension. A cable pulled taut at the top of the lift is the most common cause of a gland failure in the first year.

First start

Check rotation on a momentary jog before the pump is lowered. Reversed rotation on a submersible is not always obvious from the sound once it is submerged, and running backwards will pass a duty test at reduced flow while the impeller unscrews itself.
