A multi-year framework agreement has been signed covering the supply of ultrasonic water meters, district metering instrumentation and the telemetry to carry their data.
Scope
The agreement covers phased replacement of mechanical meters across the distribution network, together with permanent district metered area instrumentation at the inlets. It is a framework rather than a fixed order: volumes are drawn down against it as each district is surveyed.
Why metering first
Non-revenue water in the region commonly runs between 25% and 40% of production, and a single network-wide figure locates none of it. Permanent district metering converts that one number into a per-district night-flow signal, which is what makes a repair crew's day worth scheduling.
Timeline
First deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter, with the initial districts instrumented ahead of the summer demand peak.
