How often should submersible sewage pumps be serviced?
For municipal wastewater duty, inspect seals and oil every 6 months and plan a full overhaul at 8,000 to 12,000 running hours. Abrasive or high-solids media shorten this considerably — grit-laden flows can halve the overhaul interval. Track running hours rather than calendar months: a standby pump that runs 200 hours a year does not need the same schedule as a duty pump running 4,000.
