This manual covers installation from delivery inspection through to the signed commissioning record. Read the alignment section before the unit is grouted: almost every correction after that point is expensive.
Mechanical installation
Foundation flatness and the grouting sequence set the alignment you can achieve, not the coupling adjustment afterwards. Shim under the full extent of each foot rather than at the bolt, and re-check alignment hot as well as cold — thermal growth moves a pump off a cold alignment that measured perfectly.
Electrical termination
Terminate the earth conductor before any phase conductor and confirm the rotation direction on a momentary jog before the coupling is fitted. Cable glands must be tightened to the stated torque; a gland that is merely hand-tight passes an insulation test on the day and admits moisture over the following months.
Commissioning
Record the duty point actually achieved rather than the point specified. The two differ more often than not, and the commissioning figure is the baseline every later performance judgement is made against — without it there is nothing to compare a degraded pump to.
